Account Deletion

Landlords and advertising businesses have accounts. Tenants browse and contact landlords without signing up, so there is usually no tenant account to delete — but you may still ask us to delete enquiry records that identify you.

• Email Rentdirecthub@hmrprop.co.za with the subject line “Account deletion”.
• Send the request from the email address on the account, and include the mobile number linked to it.
• We verify identity before deleting anything, so that nobody else can close your account.
• Tell us if you want everything deleted, or only certain information.

• Your listings are unpublished immediately and stop appearing in search.
• Your profile, uploaded photos and uploaded verification documents are deleted.
• Any active subscription is cancelled; access runs to the end of the period already paid for.
• Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account or its listings afterwards.

• Transaction, invoice and tax records, for the periods required by South African tax and company law.
• Records needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, or to comply with a lawful request.
• Fraud, abuse and moderation records, kept in the minimum form needed to prevent repeat abuse.
• Information already lawfully shared with a third party where we no longer control it.

Retained records are limited to what is necessary, kept securely and not used for marketing.

We aim to acknowledge within 5 business days and to complete deletion within 30 days. Backups are overwritten on their normal cycle, so a copy may persist in secure backup for a short period after live deletion.
